Wisconsin Military Snowmobile Ride
The Wisconsin Military Snowmobile Ride is an annual winter event designed to express gratitude to Veterans and active-duty Troops through a day of shared camaraderie and snowmobiling. Organized by a committee passionate about supporting our troops, the ride serves to introduce military families to a safe, family-friendly winter sport while showcasing the vast 22,000-mile public trail network maintained by thousands of local Wisconsin snowmobile clubs. The 2027 ride is scheduled for Monday, January 18th.
The ride traditionally takes place on the Monday immediately following the famous Eagle River World Championship Snowmobile Derby Complex in Eagle River, Wisconsin. The most recent major milestone was our 20th Anniversary Ride, which brought together 62 riders for a day of trail riding, community pit stops, and family-style dining.
To grow the sport, especially for new riders, the program offers specialized accommodations for "Non-Owner" military participants who are new to snowmobiling:
- Complimentary Gear & Equipment: New riders are provided with a snowmobile, fuel, oil, and a safety helmet.
- Hospitality & Meals: Participants receive a free lunch along the trail and a hosted banquet dinner at the end of the day.
- World Championship Derby Races: Complimentary tickets for the Sunday Derby Complex races on January 17.
Participants are responsible for bringing their own personal cold-weather clothing, including winter coats, insulated boots, gloves or mittens, and face protection like baclava.
When is the Ride?
- On Sunday, January 17th, Veterans/Family members will travel at their own expense to the Derby Complex in Eagle River, WI.
- Arrive NLT 11am to enjoy a full day of World Championship Snowmobile Racing.
- Hotel Check-in is 3:00pm and dinner is on your own Sunday.
- On Monday, January 18th, all riders report to the Derby Complex Exposition Hall NLT 0830 for suit-up, sled coordination and safety briefing.
- The Military Ride is from 0930-1630, and closes with a dinner and ceremony at the Derby Complex upon completion of the Ride.
NOTE: Final reporting instructions, sled rental details and coordination for the 2027 Military Ride will be provided upon your selection.

Are you a New Snowmobile Rider?
Regardless of your experience, if you currently do NOT own a snowmobile, the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs (AWSC) and the World Championship Derby Complex invite you and your family to participate in the 2027 MILITARY APPRECIATION RIDE! New Riders receive reduced lodging at the Best Western Derby Inn Sunday night, plus free lunch and banquet dinner during the 2027 Military Appreciation Ride. Fill out the below application and identify your status as "Non-Owner." New Riders will be provided a snowmobile, gas, oil, and helmet for the Military Ride. Be sure to bring your winter gear: coat, boots, gloves/mittens, baklava, or other cold weather gear.
Are you a Current Snowmobile Owner / Rider?
All are welcome and encouraged to sign up! Veterans who are current snowmobile owners/riders receive reduced lodging at the Best Western Derby Inn Sunday night, plus free lunch and banquet dinner during the 2027 Military Appreciation Ride.
